Potter by day, and weekend photographer, I’ve been taking pictures off-and-on since the early 1980’s. In late 2020 I decided to revive my old hobby. I bought a DSLR and went out on trips in my local area.
What I love about the camera is the way it opens new worlds that are right in front of me. Shooting digital is more convenient than the old Pentax K1000 I started on. I especially enjoy being able to take lots of shots and get them into my editing software, Affinity Photo.
I created this website to give me a place view my work, which inspires me to keep shooting.
In 2021 I posted my photos based on the location of my trip. I was into the ‘photo essay’, which challenged me to create a visual story each time I went out.
In late 2021 I acquired a telephoto zoom which effected my approach to composition. As a result, my photo journeys became less cohesive. I found myself picking out small scenes as opposed to the wide angle images I had been focused on.
I quite like the photo essay, and I’m thinking about different ways to do them as I explore new approaches for 2023. I hope you enjoy my photography and the website.
